Do you ever just sit in complete awe of his creation?

Do you ever wonder how he handmade the trees and the sky and created us to be just like he envisioned?

These are questions I ask myself quite too often. A few weeks ago we spent 10 hours praying over our campus as a squad. We were praying over spiritual warfare for every racer and praying for safety over our spiritual and physical wellbeing. Our squad took rotations by signing up for specific time slots throughout the night. I signed up for an earlier time, as I was looking for a quiet place the Lord told me to take a walk. I walked around campus and decided to go to the mailbox, which ended up being a bad idea considering there were bats everywhere. I proceeded to walk around until I saw the lodge, so I laid down on the concrete driveway and allowed myself to feel the presence of the lord while looking at the stars. The song “surrounded” by bethel music was playing on my phone, and when they kept singing the line “this is how I fight my battles” I got lost in the stars. I was fascinated by how beautiful the night sky appeared to the human eye, it’s something pictures don’t do justice. I got so lost in the beauty of God’s creation that I just froze, allowing myself to soak in the moment.

For those couple of minutes, I was able to pause from the stress, pause from tomorrow’s doubts, and pause from life in general. The Lord allowed me a couple of minutes to just sit there and realize I can only fight my battles with him. I tend to always fight battles on my own without going to The Lord and just simply listening to Him. As I sat there I attempted to take a picture of the sky, but even with flash, the picture was a gray blur. It’s funny how I said pictures don’t do it justice because they don’t. My iPhone camera couldn’t capture it the way I wanted it to, it couldn’t capture the beauty of the night sky. This was a sign to start soaking in the moments and stop worrying about taking a picture for later. It’s time to start living in the present and allow time with God before worrying about satisfying your future self.

In verses Psalm 8:3-9 it says “When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!”

Our appreciation of God’s majesty, wisdom, and power grows deeper if we take time during a clear, starry night to look up and scan the heavens. How cool is it that God handmade each star, and can name and count all of them?

If you were to look down on earth we would look like a speck of dust, but if you were to look up into the night sky the stars look like a speck of dust. To the human eye, we see specks of light but in God’s eyes, he sees us. We resemble the stars, he made the stars for US!! He can name and count all of us because we are HIS children. The night sky isn’t as simple as it looks, it’s much more complex and meaningful because anything God creates has a purpose. WOW, thanks God!

I struggle with seeking God in the simplicity of life. I feel as if I’m too busy worrying about the next thing to do that I don’t sit back and truly appreciate the life the creator Himself gave me. As a society we’re always looking to keep busy but when do we just sit back and relax with God? When is the last time you just went away and took time for yourself? I find it the most beneficial to distance myself away from the real world and just go to a quiet place, whether it’s a field, the park near your house, or maybe your backyard. I challenge you to take some time with God this week, whether it’s one day or a couple of days, and just sit with Him. That could look like laying on a blanket listening to music with your eyes closed, or it could be time for you to just rant to Him. Allow yourself to see Him in the little things, He’s ready to have your attention:)

Thank you for all of the support and being patient with me, this is such a sweet season of life and I can’t wait to share all of the stories!! 1. There are those who run inside when it rains, are afraid of the dark and afraid of heights. Then there are those who find beauty in creation by watching the storm clouds form, hear the growing thunder, see the strikes of lightening, those who know when it is completely dark that the universe with it’s stars, planets and unending edges are best seen and there are those who know the awesome beauty of looking at the world from the top of a volcano. I think we are unable to truly capture such things with a photo because God wanted us to share His glory others, that they would come to know and believe in Him.

  2. I love how you see the fullness of the Lord’s majesty, power, and beauty. Thank you for this!!
